Program Overview

Introduction to Construction is a four day program designed for individuals seeking to embark on a rewarding career in the construction industry. This specialized program begins with an overview of the industry and combines essential career readiness skills with introductory technical training, ensuring participants are well-prepared to succeed in entry level construction-related roles.

Our curriculum focuses on honing career readiness skills such as resume building, interview preparation, and professional communication, alongside developing a solid understanding of construction fundamentals, site safety protocols, and industry-specific terminology.

Shippensburg University was awarded a $275,000 grant from the US Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration in support of its South-Central Career Development and Readiness Initiative. The program is supported 100% by federal funds.

Adult Learner Certificate Program at No Cost

The Introduction to Construction Adult Learner Training Certificate program is a grant-funded opportunity that  requires no additional cost for participants and is valued at 675.00.

Once you’ve are enrolled to the program, classes will begin Monday, 2/19/24 through Thursday, 2/22/24. Register online by 2/5/24.

Upon finishing the Introduction to Construction Program, you will receive:

      • Certificate of completion
      • Digital badge to share you recently earned accomplishment on professional and digital sites.
      • Supplies: safety vest, voucher to purchase steel-toed boots, work gloves, safety glasses

    • High School Diploma or GED required, get trained while working
